Today, on International Children's Day, the National Commission for Financial Markets (NCFM) organized for the first time a funny financial education event, dedicated to a group of children aged 8-11. The activity was carried out at the NCFM premises with the support of AO FINEDU and the Moldovan Club of Intellectual Games.
More than 20 children divided into five teams competed for two hours to get the highest score and claim first place in the standings. The competition consisted of six tests, marked as "activity stations" on an individualized map, according to a predetermined route. The teams followed the route indicated on the map, performing the tasks stated for each stopping point, being evaluated according to speed, accuracy and honesty in completing the tests.
All six stages were designed with a level of complexity appropriate for the age of the participating children and consisted of:
- Find the defined term- we know the basics of finance;
- The Honest Plane- we learn to "target" a responsible and honest approach to the financial market;
- "Fishing" the best deal- we learn to choose the elements with the lowest %;
- Secure the egg- we learn the essence of a good and thorough insurance;
- Invent the stock market- we learn to combine words specific to the stock market activity in verses;
- Financial crocodile- we learn to express ideas without using words.
The host of the event, the NCFM vice-president, Vitalie Lemne, greeted the little intellectuals and sent them a congratulatory message on the occasion of Children's Day: “We organized this event because we care about children and financial education. We will continue to promote that concept because it is the most important investment we can make in our future as a society. We wish you all the best, dear children! Grow up healthy and happy!”
The unique format of the event is part of the new NCFM approaches to increase the interest of children and youth in financial education activities, which will contribute to the formation of a new generation of young people more informed and responsible.
